A pesquisa em educação médica é o estudo crítico e sistemático do ensino e aprendizagem em Medicina. É um campo em crescimento, em número tanto de pesquisadores envolvidos, como de produções geradas. No Brasil, a Revista Brasileira de Educação Médica (RBEM) é o principal meio de divulgação científica da pesquisa da área. Este estudo visa caracterizar a pesquisa em educação médica brasileira a partir das publicações da RBEM no período de 2006 a 2010. Neste período, houve um crescimento de 117,6%, com média de 60,4 artigos por ano, com crescente participação proporcional de pesquisas inéditas. A Região Sudeste e instituições públicas têm a maior participação nos artigos. Os descritores mais utilizados foram "educação médica", "estudantes de Medicina" e "currículo". O crescimento da RBEM espelha o desenvolvimento da pesquisa em educação médica brasileira, seguindo a lógica da produção científica nacional.

Research in medical education is the critical and systematic study of teaching and learning in medicine. It's a developing field with an increasing number of researchers and publications. In Brazil, the Brazilian Journal of Medical Education (RBEM) is the main journal in the area. The present study describes Brazilian scientific production in medical education by analyzing papers published by the RBEM from 2006 to 2010. In this period, the number of articles increased by 117.6%, averaging 60.4 articles per year. There was also an increase in the proportion of new research studies. The Southeast region and public institutions account for the greatest share of the articles. The most frequent keywords were "medical education", "medical students" and "curriculum". The growth of the RBEM reflects the development of research in medical education in Brazil and is in keeping with the logic of national scientific production.

OBJETIVO: Avaliar a eficácia do uso de um novo método de imobilização provisória para os pacientes com fratura transtrocanteriana durante o período pré-operatório. MÉTODOS: Durante três meses, 33 pacientes foram atendidos no Serviço de Ortopedia e Traumatologia devido à fratura transtrocantérica. Foram selecionados 22 pacientes e divididos em um grupo que utilizou a imobilização desenvolvida e outro que não utilizou. Os pacientes participaram da avaliação com a Escala Visual Analógica de Dor (EVA) em três momentos distintos durante o período perioperatório para se observarem o consumo de analgésicos e as possíveis complicações. RESULTADOS: O grupo que utilizou a imobilização queixou-se de menos dor, utilizou menor quantidade de analgésicos e apresentou menor incidência de complicações clínicas. CONCLUSÃO: O uso do aparelho pareceu ser eficaz, porém foi estatisticamente não significativo. Nível de Evidência II, Estudo Prospectivo Comparativo.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy of a new method of provisional preoperative imobilization for patientes with transtrochanteric femoral fractures. METHODS: Over a three-month period, 33 patients were treated at the Orthopaedic Trauma Service for transtrochanteric femoral fracture. We selected 22 patients and they were divided into groups with and without the use of the developed imobilization. The patients were evaluated according to the Visual Analogue Scale for Pain (VAS) during the preoperative and postoperative period in order to verify the analgesic consume and clinical complications. RESULTS: The group that used the imobilization had lower pain, reduced analgesic consume and had less clinical complications. CONCLUSION: The new imobilization therefore presents good results, however not statistical significant. Level of Evidence II, Prospective Comparative Study.

O artigo foi elaborado a partir do estudo dos resultados de duas dissertações de mestrado (Estudo 1 e 2) e de uma tese de doutorado (Estudo 3). Foram identificadas reações emocionais comuns e freqüentes nos portadores de diabetes mellitus (DM), que comprometem o desempenho dos papéis de autocuidado. Teve como objetivos: apresentar as reações emocionais identificadas em portadores de DM tipo 1 e 2 e discutir as interferências das reações emocionais para desempenho dos papéis de autocuidado. Dos resultados, emergiram as categorias de reações emocionais: medo, raiva/ revolta, tristeza, depressão e estresse/ansiedade. Evidenciou-se ser a DM uma doença que, independente do tipo e da faixa etária, causa um impacto negativo biopsicossocial. Concluiu-se que há necessidade de uma abordagem mais ampla para a relação entre as reações emocionais e o desempenho das ações de autocuidado dos portadores de DM.

The article was elaborated based on the study of the two thesis master of degrees (Study 1 and 2) and of a doctorate thesis (Study 3). Had been identified reactions emotional common and frequency in the patients with Diabetes Mellitus (DM), being able to compromise the action performance of papers of self-care. We have as objective: to present reactions emotional identified in patients with DM they intervene with the action performance of papers of self-care and arguing the emotional the interferences of for the self-care. Of the results the emotional categories of reactions had emerged: fear; anger, bad behavior, depressive feelings and stress/ anxiety. Evidencing to be independent DM an illness of the type and the age band it is the cause of a biopsychosocial negative impact. It is concluded the necessity of a larger approaching related to the emotional reaction and the action performance of self-care roles of patients with DM.

Habían sido el campo común y la frecuencia emocionales identificados de las reacciones en los pacientes con la Diabetes Mellitus (DM), pudiendo comprometer el funcionamiento de la acción de papeles del auto-cuidado. The current taxonomy of the Teredinidae (shipworms) is wholly based on morphology and up to now no molecular studies of the phylogeny of this group have been published. In the present study the relationships between four genera of the subfamilies Teredininae and Bankiinae were established and the efficiency of the 16S rRNA gene in characterizing four Teredinidae species was tested. Phylogenetic trees support the grouping of Bankia fimbriatula with Nausitora fusticula and of Neoteredo reynei with Psiloteredo healdi, but the genetic distances do not justify the classification of these species into two distinct subfamilies. The results show that B. fimbriatula, N. reynei and P. healdi specimens from the coast of the Brazilian state of Pará have five distinct 16S rRNA haplotypes, with one N. reynei haplotype differing from the other haplotypes in respect to at least seven sequences sites, indicating the existence of two very distinct sympatric lineages.
